Introducing another unique treasure from the Horizon treasure trove!
One of the most exciting things that happens in the sawyer's booth here at Horizon is making that first cut into a log that we suspect holds something above and beyond the normal expectations. Our log buyers are good, but try as they might, they have never been able to actually see inside a log before it is processed........if they did have that skill they would have been delighted with what this particular selection had to show them. Truly worthy of Item of the Month status - this set of 3 hard maple logs contains some of the most interestingly unique figure to be found. Truly a fluke of nature, this group has us intrigued. It contains streaks and stripes that have developed from an ingrown bark situation.
Contrary to what one might expect, the wood is solid and structurally sound. The occassional end checks common to all wood do not even coordinate with the presence of the patterned figure in these flitches, a testimony to their solidity.

The figure in this group is unbelievable! It contains the most uniform figure distribution of all the sets. It also boasts great widths and little heartood. There have been generous length reductions made to allow for bark seams.

SOLD Set 225426 SOLD
This set contains the least uniform of the figure. There are some areas of super intense patches and other areas where the wood appears more normal. Some impressively long streaks of ingrown bark. Lots of variety, lots of potential!!
