For this early autumn selection we are offering a couple of beautiful, sequentially cut walnut crotches. The trees containing these crotches were harvested from an island on the James River in Virginia, where the conditions were just about perfect for growing Walnut. Once cut, the logs had to be transported to shore by barge. Obviously that much extra effort would have only been expended for something truly special .....gives you a clue as to how neat this selection is! The flitches contain some mild flame on the outer cuts ranging to a spectacular flame in the center. You will also see some pretty interesting compression curl. These pieces have been sawn to a generous 8/4 thickness. They are HUGE specimens for this high quality walnut.
