A smorgasboard of terrific table top options!
We've been looking through the warehouse trying to decide which of our favorites deserve billing as this month's ITEM. Suddenly it seemed a perfect fit, now in December during the holidays somehow we are all compelled to gather round the table and enjoy the company of family and friends. The spirit of togtherness is a big part of this winter-time celebration. So, why not make it extra special and have the focal point of the gathering be a handcrafted table made out of some spectacular American Hardwood? Not enough time to put a table together this year? Then you can always plan ahead for next season!
Please take a look at the following offerings. We are presenting a selection of four different species, all grown right here in the USA. This wood represents a variety of thicknesses and widths, each with its own interesting features to make it compelling for use as a table top. We are excited about the potential these selections hold once they get in the hands of our skilled and creative customers. Would love to be able to post photos of four unique tables; perhaps for the dining room, entertainment area or board room. So, make a selection, get to work and send us some pictures. And as always, the use of the wood is limitless, a table top is only a suggestion - maybe you have a better plan.

WALNUT: this set is hit / miss surfaced to 1 3/8" thick, will be able to finish to near 1.25". Perfectly flat. Boards are actually 11' long but deducted to 10' long due to end check on small end . One square edge. One knot starting to show through on the top face of piece 5, otherwise a flawless set.
Special note: We also have another 200+ bf from this same log-- perhaps the frame and matching chairs? (all 6/4 rough sawn!)

SOFT MAPLE :
AFTER surfacing this selection is still 2.5" thick.The figure in this wood is a fine and even fiddleback. The ultimate 3 piece thick stock table top. This would be a real monster table! And by the way, there are 3 more matching pieces from this same log.

RED OAK:
Huge bookmatched pair - suitable for a +50" wide table top. Thickness is actually 1 3/8, so there's plenty of room for surfacing. One tennis ball sized solid knot in the center of the set looks good bookmatched. Full length is actually 10', but some end checks merit length reductions. Bark still attached and could be preserved as design feature. |

CHERRY : SOLD!!
This is one super Cherry Log! Very little sap. Flat. Perfect all around. Look at the growth rings per inch , tight and close; representing stable, slow growth. A beautiful specimen. |
