HORIZON's Method of Measurement

Width of Squared Edged material is measured like standard lumber from edge to edge.

Width of Flitches is measured from mid-wane to mid-wane at the center of the length.

Thickness of all material is measured in 1/4 inch increments.

Volumes are measured in board foot (bf).

One board foot (bf) represents a board 12 inches in width X 12 inches in length X 1 inch thickness.

In some specialty figured selections, such as crotches, volume is measured by the dimensions of the figured area rather than by the dimensions of the entire flitch.

Any problems with the measurements of irregularly shaped boards are solved with common sense!
